Title | Tailoring learner experience based on curriculum content. The curriculum management system sends curriculum data (all or portion therof) to another system. The other system can use that data to offer tailored content/evaluations to the learner or use the data for analytics or dashboard views of the data (ie QlikView), or compare curricula. There may be other uses for the data. |
Actors | Learner, curriculum management system, content delivery system or evaluation system. |
Trigger event | A curricular event (ie end of a course, beginning of a course, learner arrival at a point on a path of competency development) |
Sucess end condition | The learner receives or has access to content or evaluations related to a part of the curriculum in which they are or have been engaged. |
Assumptions | The learner is logged into the content delivery system or evaluation system. Both curriculum management system and content delivery system or evaluation system have established interoperability using common APIs. |
Description | The learner(s) reaches (reach) a point in the curriculum designed to use dynamic content based on competency, keyword, or other metadata related to a portion of the curriculum. The curriculum management system requests tailored content from the (or sends tailored content to content delivery system or evaluation system instead?) content delivery system or evaluation system, including curriculum data relevant to the request (and learner data relevant to the request?) I agree. Learner data too, so the learner it is associated to the sent content and receives a personalized report/view? Would the content deliver system or evaluation system then make that content available directly to the learner, or would something pass through the curriculum management system? Good question. Supposing that the learner has access to the content deliver system or evaluation system then better to keep it one way stream and the content is made available from the the content deliver system or evaluation system? Is there a chain of transaction that would need to take place? |
Transaction | What are the important system to system transactions that might require standards? Maybe 2 scenarios here (or combination of both)? One is (no standards required at the end system), the curriculum management system sends the content/package to the other end already standardized (through CI) and the other system needs to only be able to read and present the standardized content to the user (through the API)? Another is (standards required at the end system), the curriculum management system sends the content/package to the other end where the API reads and standardizes the content and then presents the content to the user? |
Exceptions | What happens if things go wrong? |
Potential Standards | If a particular transaction points to the need for a data exchange standard, give a general title for that standard here. |

Actors | List the actors involved in this use case. An actor is a system or a role a person might take in interacting with a system. For example, a physician learner could be an actor, or a learning management system. |
Trigger event | If there is an event that precedes and triggers this use case, list it here. For example, the trigger event for a point of care learning experience would be "A clinician has a clinical question at the point of care." |
Sucess end condition | If the user's goal is accomplished, what is the end result? For example, "The clinician accesses learning that addresses her clinical questions." |
Assumptions | If there are any assumptions or prerequisite action that must be taken, list them here. The user having logged in successfully may be an assumption. |
Description | Write a step by step narrative description of how the user and system interact to achieve the end goal. This doesn't have to be technical, it just describes what you want the technology to do for you. |
