The UK Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) recently published "Effective Practice with e-Portfolios," a guide to the use of e-portfolios to support learning. The guide outlines the processes of portfolio-based learning, including dialogue, feedback, personal development planning, and self appraisal, while exploring different perspectives related to e-portfolios. The first investigates the learner's view and how the e-portfolio can support learners in achieving their goals. The guide then explores the practitioner's perspective and how the e-portfolio can be used as a part of a larger pedagogical approach to learning and teaching. The institutional perspective examines the key factors in sucessfully deploying e-portfolios on a broad scale. The guide also explores the role that e-portoflios can play in lifelong learning and assessment or appraisal.
The guide is paired with an online infoKit that provides access to case studies from JISC projects, video summaries and explanations, expanded analysis, templates, and implementation tools.
