Tracking a change to recommended practice and invalidating competency record
A learner could successfully complete a Virtual Patient case. Completion of the case could be tracked in the LRS and used to sign-off a particular competency. At a later date the recommended best practice for the case might be revised in the light of new research, legal changes, etc. The case could be revised to incorporate the new guidelines and re-issued. The LRS could be interrogated to determine which practitioners had used the original case to evidence the relevant competency. That competency record could then be 'invalidated' until the practitioner revisited the new case and completed it successfully (and hopefully absorbing the change in guidance). One completion of the revised case thier competency record would once again be set to complete.
