Members of the Standards Committee,

Please accept for review the below proposed additions to the Healthcare LOM, specifically regarding in-person activities.  HealthStream, specifically Jennifer Ott with my assistance, has compared the Healthcare LOM standard with our business processes and finds that the below would be helpful and impactive additions to the LOM standard.

Having performed this analysis, it is our understanding that the next step is for us to submit this proposal directly to the committee for assessment.  Please advise if there is any more detailed information that we can provide.  Thank you.

--------------------------------------
Please find below the proposed elements for Start datetime and End datetime for a single in-person activity. HealthStream proposes the addition of "Time Zone" to the in-person activity element.

Concerning the "activityLocation" element, HealthStream provides city, state and country as well as additional details such as building and room name. If the committee would like, HealthStream could propose more details in the Guidance section for "activityLocation".

Time Zones are reflective of North America and can be expanded, if the committee chooses to do so. Reference used for this element was http://www.timeanddate.com/library/abbreviations/timezones/na/.

Element: Activity Start DateTime

Description: The date and time associated with the beginning of an in-person activity.

Guidance: Indicate the date and time upon which the in-person activity will begin. Use date format MM/DD/YYYY. (Example: 10/01/2006, meaning October 1, 2006 not January 10, 2006). Use time format "HH:MM AM" or "HH:MM PM" as applicable.

Element: Activity End DateTime

Description: The date and time associated with the end of an in-person activity.

Guidance: Indicate the final date and time associated with the end of an in-person activity. Activity End DateTime may be the same as the Activity Start DateTime, but no earlier. Use date format MM/DD/YYYY. (Example: 10/01/2006, meaning October 1, 2006 not January 10, 2006). Use time format "HH:MM AM" or "HH:MM PM" as applicable.

Element: Activity Time Zone

Description: The respective time zone in which the in-person activity will occur.

Guidance: Indicate time zone as Eastern Standard Time (EST), Central Standard Time (CST), Mountain Standard Time (MST), Pacific Standard Time (PST), Alaska Standard Time (AKST), Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time (HAST) along with their Daylight Savings Time complements, which replace the 'S' in each acronym with a 'D'.
